In the past month we hosted our annual blood drive. Our Scholars donated enough blood to save 33 lives! Despite not being as large as last year, we did have a fairly large turnout and we were glad that we were able to make a difference in other people's lives.
On the topic of philanthropy, our chapter has decided to help the Marquette Evans Scholars chapter by donating to their St. Baldrick's fundraiser to help find the cure for childhood cancer.
Many of our Scholars are planning on participating in Purdue Relay for Life on March 23-24 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
On March 14, our chapter is hosting our annual Putt-Putt philanthropy with Circle Pines Cooperative House! We have decided to work on making a full 18-hole mini golf course, in which nine holes will be at our house, and nine holes will be at theirs.
Last Saturday, our chapter hosted our Dad's Day which consisted of playing mini golf, eating pizza, and relaxing with our families. The following day our chapter sat in on a presentation by Will Evans from the Purdue Recreational & Wellness center about drinking and mental health amongst college students. Many of our Scholars found the presentation to be interesting and contained a lot of information that many found to be interesting, as well as surprising.
Outside of the classroom, two of our Scholars, Quynh Nguyen and Chandler Fairfield, helped judge in the Lafayette Regional Science Fair where they had the opportunity to act as role models for some up and coming scientists!
Our Scholars are getting ready for this last week before spring break and making sure to finish strong academically before traveling or relaxing at home. And of course, our chapter is going to make sure to watch the Purdue vs. Michigan basketball game for the Big Ten Title! Boiler Up!
